For more than 420 years, fireworks have played an important part in British celebrations, from Bonfire Night and New Year’s Eve to weddings, Diwali, community events and fundraising displays. However, this much-loved British tradition could now face significant changes.

The Government has launched a consultation which could fundamentally change the fireworks industry and restrict many of the products we currently know and enjoy.
The British Firework Association (BFA) estimates that the proposals could potentially restrict the sale of more than 90% of the fireworks currently enjoyed by consumers.
If these proposals are approved, it could significantly change the way we celebrate Bonfire Night, weddings, Diwali and countless other social, community and fundraising events across the UK.

2026 Firework Shortage: Why You Should Order Early
As if the potential changes to the industry weren't enough, 2026 is also expected to be an exceptionally challenging year for the availability of fireworks.
You may or may not be aware that an incident at a firework factory in China in May resulted in significant disruption to the Chinese fireworks industry, with production and exports affected for several months.
As a result, we estimate that between 70–80% of the stock expected for the UK market will not arrive before the 2026 season begins.
To put this into perspective, importers who would normally receive 20–30 containers are reportedly receiving just four or five.
The impact will be felt across the entire UK fireworks industry.
Large Rockets
One of the biggest impacts this year will be on large rockets.
Not a single large rocket is expected to arrive this year.
This means there will undoubtedly be shortages across the industry, with popular products likely to sell out considerably earlier than usual.
Our Advice: Order Early
If you already know you want fireworks for Bonfire Night, a private celebration, wedding, Diwali, New Year’s Eve or another event, we strongly recommend ordering as early as possible.
With significantly reduced availability expected this year, ordering early is the best way to secure the fireworks you want rather than leaving it until closer to the date and potentially finding that your preferred products are no longer available.
