A Childhood Illuminated

I look back with great fondness on visits to my local newsagent as a child, accompanying my father to purchase fireworks for the celebrations of Guy Fawkes Night. The closing years of the twentieth century and the dawn of the new millennium seemed, to my mind, something of a golden age.

Standard Fireworks, then based in Huddersfield and established in 1891, was among the foremost British manufacturers of the time. I can still recall their posters and banners adorning the shop windows, lending a particular sense of excitement and anticipation to the season.

In more recent years, I have been fortunate enough to acquire, through a collector, a small selection of those very same fireworks from my youth. I share them here as a modest collectionβ€”perhaps humble in scale when set beside others, yet deeply meaningful to me as a gentle reminder of childhood days and as a small but cherished piece of Britain’s past.

WE BUY VINTAGE FIREWORKS.

Fireworks from the 1990s and early 2000s are of particular interest to us, though we are happy to consider any British-made items that include blue touchpaper. As collectors of vintage fireworks, we are always keen to discover unique pieces of firework history. If you have any old fireworks tucked away in the loft or stored in a shed, please get in touchβ€”we would be delighted to offer a cash price for them.
