Firework Disposal Services
We provide a professional disposal service for all unwanted, surplus, or time-expired fireworks, regardless of their age, classification, or standard of manufacture.
Fireworks manufactured to BS 7114 are now obsolete and no longer produced. While it is not unlawful to possess or use such fireworks where they are already held, they should be treated with particular caution due to their age. Degradation of pyrotechnic compositions over time may increase the risk of unpredictable performance or failure.
General guidance for domestic users suggests that small quantities of fireworks may be rendered safe by full submersion in water for a minimum of 24–48 hours to ensure complete deactivation. Once soaked, the items should be securely wrapped to prevent drying out and may then be disposed of via household waste, subject to local authority guidance.
However, where there is any uncertainty, lack of competence, or where quantities exceed minimal levels, disposal should not be undertaken without appropriate knowledge and control measures.
We offer a controlled and compliant disposal service and, where appropriate, can arrange for the safe transfer or onward handling of fireworks.
Our organisation employs personnel recognised as Persons with Specialist Knowledge (PWSK/PSK) and holds the appropriate licence for the storage of explosives in accordance with the Explosives Regulations 2014.
We also provide advice on the safe handling, packaging, and transportation of fireworks, including carriage in compliance with ADR requirements where applicable.
